In second grade we use a card system as part of our behavior plan. Each child has a pocket on a chart in the classroom. The pocket contains four cards which are green, blue, yellow, and red. Students turn a card when their behavior is inappropriate. Each time a card is turned, the student loses five minutes of recess. After a student has missed the required amount of recess time, the cards are turned back to green for a fresh start. Students who have turned their cards to red will have their parents contacted concerning the behavior.
Some expected behaviors are: listening and following directions, raising hands to speak, showing respect for others, completing assignments on time, and following rules established for hall, classroom and playground.
As your child's teacher, I am committed to catching your child making positive decisions and following our classroom rules. By doing so, many negative behaviors are avoided.
